Maia Chaka Will Serve as First Black Woman Official in NFL: Maia Chaka has been named an NFL official and will be in the roster of officials to referee NFL games during the 2021 season. Chaka has previous officiated in the Pac-10 and Conference USA at the NCAA level.
MacKenzie Scott has remarried: MacKenzie Scott, the 3rd richest woman in the world, has married a Seattle teacher, Dan Jewett. Scott has previously given away large sums to HBCUs and other causes.
Senate Passes Stimulus Bill: After much intra-party negotiation, the Senate has passed a COVID-19 stimulus bill which will provide $1400 checks to many Americans. Several provisions differ from the version that passed the House of Representatives, including an upper-bound on income for whom is eligible to receive the stimulus.
Explosion in Equatorial Guinea Kills 31: An explosion in Bata, Equatorial Guinea has killed 31 people, and injured hundreds. The cause of the explosion has been attributed to improperly stored dynamite and stubble burning by nearby farmers.
Meghan and Harry Give Explosive Interview: In an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan and Harry, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, revealed details of the fractured relationship between them and the rest of the royal family.
